Multi-Core Fiber Optic Cable Installation Moves to Provisional Acceptance Stage
On November 27, 2025, an official inspection was carried out regarding the Installation of Multi-Core Fiber Optic Cable for the Optical Communications Laboratory Ring. The purpose of this visit was to assess the executed works for provisional acceptance.



On November 27, 2025, an official inspection was carried out regarding the Installation of Multi-Core Fiber Optic Cable for the Optical Communications Laboratory Ring, implemented at the Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon campus, with interconnection to the Odivelas and Rato stations of the Lisbon Metro Yellow Line, under contract ref. 2025/SPF/UC/662.
The technical visit was attended by representatives from the entities involved:
- Eng. Luís Martins, representing the Project Owner;
- Eng. Filipe Prazeres, representing the supervision team from VHM;
- Eng. Paulo Leal, representing the contractor Telcabo, S.A.
The purpose of this visit was to assess the executed works for provisional acceptance.
Following the inspection, it was concluded that the infrastructure is ready to be put into operation by Iscte, ensuring the functionality of the multi-core fiber optic ring. A small set of adjustments and repairs were identified, to be completed by Telcabo for full contract compliance.
This milestone reinforces the development of advanced communication networks, contributing to scientific progress and technological innovation in next-generation multi-core optical fiber infrastructure.
