On November 27, 2025, an official inspection was carried out regarding the Installation of Multi-Core Fiber Optic Cable for the Optical Communications Laboratory Ring. The purpose of this visit was to assess the executed works for provisional acceptance.

The inauguration of the installation of the world’s largest multi-core fiber optic testbed in the Lisbon Metro, LUMIring, took place at ISCTE and the University City Metro station on November 3, 2025. The event was attended by the Rector of ISCTE, Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, the Project Director, Adolfo Cartaxo, the President of the Board of Directors of Metro Lisboa, Maria Helena Campos, the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, and the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida.

The LUMIRing project will celebrate a key milestone with the official inauguration of the Lisbon Underground Multicore Fiber Ring testbed, installed along the Yellow Line of the Lisbon Metro. The event will take place on November 3, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., in Auditorium A306 (Floor 3, Building 4) at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon.
